Biography

Bryn Dentinger is a mycologist specializing in fungal biodiversity and symbiosis. Born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, he developed an early passion for mushrooms during his high school years.

He earned his B.A. from Macalester College in 2000 and his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 2007. From 2010 to 2016, he served as Senior Scientist and Head of Mycology at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, in London.

He is currently Curator of Mycology at the Natural History Museum of Utah and Associate Professor in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Utah. His research integrates fieldwork, laboratory analysis, and collections-based approaches to better understand fungal diversity, plant- and animal-fungal symbioses, and their broader significance for ecosystem function and human welfare.
